Who We Are

Our practice is led by Henri T. Hammond, Esq., a seasoned attorney with over twenty years of legal experience, including fifteen years specializing in VA disability law. Mr. Hammond’s extensive educational background includes a Juris Doctorate, a Masters of Law (LLM) in Litigation and Dispute Resolution, and a Masters of Business Administration.

He is admitted to practice law in the State of Georgia, the District of Columbia, is VA accredited, and has the authority to represent clients before the US Court of Appeals for Veteran Claims, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the US Supreme Court.

Henri T. Hammond’s military background is equally impressive. A retired Air Force Medical Service Officer, Mr Hammond spent twenty-one years on active duty, including fifteen years in Air Force medical centers, hospitals, and clinics. His career highlights include serving as Commander of the 51 Medical Support Squadron and Administrator of the 51st Medical Group at Osan Air Base in South Korea. Additionally, he worked for three years in the Office of the Assistant Secretary of Defense (Health Affairs) and three years in the Department of Defense Inspector General’s office. As a service-disabled veteran, Mr. Hammond brings a unique and personal understanding of veterans’ challenges.

What We Offer

Legal Representation: Our practice is dedicated to representing veterans in their disability claims before the Veterans Affairs Regional Offices, the Board of Veterans Appeals, the US Court of Appeals for Veteran Claims, the US Court of Appeals for the Federal Circuit, and the US Supreme Court. We specialize in handling cases after an initial VA claim denial, providing the expertise needed to navigate the appeals process successfully.

Consultation Services: While primarily focusing on appeals, we also offer consultation services for initial claims. If you need guidance on filing your initial claim, we can provide expert advice and assistance for a reasonable fee, ensuring that your claim is as strong as possible from the start.

Understanding Service Connection

Securing VA disability benefits hinges on establishing a service connection for your disability. There are three essential requirements:

In-Service Occurrence, Injury, or Diagnosis: A documented occurrence, injury, or diagnosis occurred during your active duty service.

Current Disability: You must have a current disability that impacts your life.

Nexus: There must be a clear connection (nexus) between the in-service injury and your current disability.

Navigating the Claims Process

We are skilled in guiding you through the claims process. The Appeals Modernization Act (AMA) has streamlined the appeals process into three main pathways:

Supplemental Claim: Submit new and relevant evidence to support your claim.
Higher Level Review: Request a more senior VA reviewer to re-examine your case.
Board of Veterans’ Appeals (BVA): Appeal directly to the Board of Veterans’ Appeals for a thorough review of your case.
